The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is generally responsible for three pre-analytical functions: patient registration and order entry, phlebotomy, and specimen processing. The percentage of time spent in each of these functions will vary with location. Work situations require professionalism in demeanor, communication and dress, an ability to establish trust and confidence with patients and/or patient families, and a service approach to the job.
